Backscattering by a Finite Array on Finite Dielectric Substrate (1998)

Abstract
Coupled integral equations using Moment method is applied to calculate the backscattering by a finite periodic array of perfect conductors on a finite dielectric slab. The software is verified by the published data. Simulation results are compared with those obtained by commercial software for a conducting array on an infinite dielectric slab. The influence of finite dielectric slab is discussed. INTRODUCTION Current work in Frequency Selective Surfaces(FSS) analyzes an infinite periodic array on an infinite dielectric sheet using moment method and Floquet's modal technique [1] or finite array with infinite dielectric[2]. In certain applications[3], a small FSS is required. This raises the necessity for evaluating the scattering of finite periodic array on a finite dielectric slab. In this paper, we use moment method on a pair of coupled integral equations [4,5] to calculate the backscattering in terms of Radar Cross Section (RCS) of 3x3 FSS array, overcoming the inability of earlier ...
